WIN WIN GOTHENBURG SUSTAINABILITY AWARD

FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS
TOWARDS A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award is one of the world's leading sustainability awards.

We recognize and promote outstanding solutions to the most urgent challenges facing the world today. The award of 1 million SEK has been presented yearly since 2000 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The WIN WIN Youth Award was founded in 2018, aiming to empower and reward young people who play an active role in the creation of a more sustainable future.

The award is a non-profit organisation financed by members who, like us, are committed to creating a better future. The winners are appointed by an independent jury containing members with diverse backgrounds within academia, private industry, public sector, and civil society. The Global Goals is our guide in the selection of a yearly theme.

THEME: INCLUSIVE TRANSITION

WIN WIN AWARD RECIPIENT 2024

JUST TRANSITION CENTRE

The winner of the 2024 WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award is the Just Transition Centre, an international organisation founded in 2016 by the International Trade Union Confederation. Their mission is clear: to ensure workers actively participate in shaping the green transition. Despite limited resources, the Just Transition Centre provides knowledge, funding, and facilitates dialogue between workers, unions, employers, companies, and societal actors, identifying solutions that benefit both people and the environment.

WIN WIN YOUTH AWARD RECIPIENT 2024

NATUR OG UNGDOM

The 2024 WIN WIN Youth Award winner is Natur og Ungdom, a significant force in the environmental and climate movement among youths in Norway. With over 5300 members aged 13-25, they strive to give young people a strong voice in societal debates and real influence on politics. In March 2023, they joined forces with Norwegian oil workers through the union Industriaksjonen to launch the 'Ten Commandments for Green Industry.' This agreement establishes principles for an inclusive transition to a green economy that benefits workers and communities, both locally and globally.

THEME 2024

INCLUSIVE TRANSITION

To achieve a climate-positive world, small improvements are not enough. We need rapid, large-scale societal changes within a short period.

However, these changes can cause uncertainty, conflict, and resistance. People may feel worried about risking their identity and income, leading to dissatisfaction and potential rifts.

It is crucial that these transitions are inclusive and fair for everyone.

We are honoured to acknowledge the remarkable accomplishments of this year's WIN WIN Award and WIN WIN Youth Award recipients, who exemplify the necessity of cross-border dialogue and collaboration. They are true trailblazers, challenging preconceptions and advocating for solutions that benefit us all.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a blueprint for achieving a better and more sustainable future for all. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that address the global challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.

The WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award select a yearly theme connected to one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, we must achieve them all by 2030.
